The Amazon distinction
Amazon Vendor and Amazon Marketplace are not the same integration
These are two distinct integration types that get conflated constantly. Comparatio supports both — on the same platform, with an Amazon Order Report to keep the two tracked separately.
Approved Vendor
Amazon Vendor (X12 EDI)
When you sell to Amazon as an Approved Vendor, purchase orders, invoices, and ship notices move as X12 EDI documents — the same document types you’d exchange with any other trading partner.

Amazon Marketplace (Selling Partner API)
When you sell on Amazon as a marketplace seller, the integration runs through Amazon’s Selling Partner API — the successor to MWS — moving orders, inventory, and fulfillment data. It isn’t X12 EDI, even though it gets grouped in with it.
Platforms & marketplaces
Storefronts, marketplaces, and channel systems we connect
From storefronts to marketplaces to channel-management and downstream systems — every name below comes straight from what the platform covers.
- Magento (V1 & V2) / Adobe Commerce
- Shopify
- WooCommerce
- 3DCart
- Amazon (MWS + Selling Partner API)
- eBay
- BigCommerce
- ChannelAdvisor
- SellerCloud
- Zentail
- VeraCore
- SanMar
- LKQ
- HyTek
These integrations get maintained, not just shipped — the Shopify connector was recently rebuilt on OAuth and the 2024-10 Admin API, so it runs on Shopify's current platform rather than a deprecated one.
FAQ
eCommerce & marketplace EDI, in practice
What’s the difference between Amazon Vendor EDI and the Amazon Selling Partner API?
They’re two distinct integration types that often get conflated. Amazon Approved Vendor integration moves purchase orders, invoices, and ship notices as X12 EDI documents — the same document types as any other trading partner. Amazon Selling Partner API (the successor to MWS) is how marketplace sellers exchange orders, inventory, and fulfillment data — it isn’t X12 EDI at all. Comparatio supports both, on the same platform.
Which eCommerce platforms and marketplaces do you connect to EDI?
Magento (V1 and V2) / Adobe Commerce, Shopify, WooCommerce, 3DCart, and BigCommerce on the storefront side; Amazon and eBay as marketplaces; and ChannelAdvisor, SellerCloud, Zentail, VeraCore, SanMar, LKQ, and HyTek for channel management and downstream systems.
How long does a new platform or marketplace connection take to go live?
A typical new integration goes live in 2–4 weeks. Once a platform is connected, updates to existing maps turn around same-day.
Can we track orders separately by marketplace or channel?
Yes — an Amazon Order Report gives marketplace-specific tracking, so Vendor and Selling Partner API order flows aren’t lumped together in one undifferentiated feed.
Selling on more channels than your EDI platform can keep up with?
Tell us which platforms and marketplaces you run — odds are we already connect to them.
